A new report shows that the global market for business VoIP services continues to enjoy rising growth, fueled by more organizations implementing SIP trunking and hosted PBX solutions to support VoIP and unified communications services.
The Infonetics' report, "VoIP and UC Services and Subscriber," revealed a three percent increase in residential and business revenues – totaling $33 billion – during the first half of 2013. Between Jan., 1 and June 30, hosted PBX/UC was noted as the fastest growing segment among VoIP services, which is largely due to businesses and larger enterprises preferring hosted solutions as an alternative to their on-premises counterparts.
"The VoIP services market is on track with our expectations for 2013," reported Diane Myers, principal analyst for VoIP/UC at Infonetics Research. "Residential VoIP services make up the majority of revenue, but growth is being fueled by business services as SIP trunking and cloud unified communications continue to expand and find broader adoption with enterprises of all sizes."
With enterprises driving much of the growth, Infonetics projected global business VoIP services revenue to increase at a 7 percent compound annual growth rate from 2012 to 2017, opposed to the three percent CAGR for residential and small office and home offices.
In addition, the results showed that most of the gains were generated by companies in North America, where there has been a 23 percent increase in SIP trunking during the first half of this year, compared to the second half of 2012.
A previous Infonetics' study stated 58 percent of U.S. businesses will adopt SIP trunks in 2015, in an industry that is growing by five million supported devices per year. Hosted PBX sales have also seen a rise in the percentage of shipments, which has more than doubled from 3.6 percent in 2010 to 8.7 percent in 2012.
Sangoma's analog, digital and BRI gateway products support a wide range of line codes and protocols, allowing enterprises of all sizes and with all types of telephony equipment to improve communication by implementing reliable, affordable SIP trunking.
