Sangoma Releases Lync Express Appliance

TORONTO, ONTARIO–(Marketwire – June 25, 2012) – Sangoma Technologies Corporation (TSX VENTURE:STC), a leading provider of hardware and software components that enable or enhance IP Communications Systems for both voice and data, announced the release of its new NetBorder™ Lync Express appliance, a standalone solution that simplifies the deployment of the Microsoft Lync unified communications platform. Combining Sangoma’s Lync-certified NetBorder Express VoIP Gateway with the Lync services platforms in a single server, Lync Express enables quick integration with the PSTN and existing telecommunications equipment and networks.

“Due to the complexity of business communications, unified communications deployments nearly always require integration of TDM- and IP-based components,” commented Robert Arnold, program manager, Unified Communications and Collaboration, with Frost & Sullivan. “Sangoma’s approach in combining multiple systems and platforms in a single server should go a long way towards simplifying Lync deployments.”

Lync Express is an integrated appliance that provides the core capabilities needed in any Lync deployment. The solution incorporates the Microsoft Windows 2008 server, Microsoft Lync 2010 server and the Sangoma NetBorder Express VoIP gateway. The stand-alone appliance supports sites of up to approximately100 users and is equipped with one E1/T1/J1 compliant digital telephony span for connection to the PSTN. Lync Express also provides four FXS line connections for any legacy emergency phone or fax requirements.

The Lync Express not only eliminates the need for an external gateway, it also allows for simplified management and configuration for all aspects of the Lync deployment. Sangoma’s field-proven auto-detect and quick configuration features inherent in the NetBorder products make this appliance ideal for both enterprise users and service providers looking to facilitate easy Lync installations.

“Businesses are continuously looking to leverage existing systems while enhancing productivity and efficiency with new services, such as those available with Lync,” said Julien Nephtali, product manager for Sangoma. “Sangoma has a long history of connecting the disparate network technologies, protocols, and signaling necessary to easily integrate the all-IP Lync ecosystem with existing TDM- or IP-based PBXs and PSTN connections. The Lync Express appliance is an ideal solution for bridging these different networks and systems in an intuitive and seamless fashion.”

Sangoma provides an industry-leading solution portfolio that enables the interworking of a wide variety of disparate TDM and IP networks, clouds, protocols, services, devices, and applications.
