Radio Talk Show DJs Maintain Control Through FutureVoice On-Air

TORONTO, ONTARIO–(Marketwire – Sept. 11, 2012) – Sangoma Technologies Corporation (TSX VENTURE:STC) – For radio broadcast stations around the world, phone-in talk shows have proven to be popular with the listening community. Yet, it’s often up to the on-air DJ to manage the calls as well as maintain the usual flow of music and chat on the air. Even small regional stations can expect five hundred to one thousand callers for a typical phone-in session-an overwhelming prospect for a lone DJ or small production team.

Lithuania-based telecommunications developer InfosPalvos recently launched its FutureVoice On-Air solution to help DJs quickly and easily manage all of the varied tasks required to successfully produce a phone-in show. InfosPalvos listened to, and worked directly with, the on-air staff at Lithuanian radio station M-1 to ensure that the solution helped manage processes without placing additional time and attention demands on the staff. The FutureVoice On-Air platform seamlessly integrates voice call control and queue management with links enabled by telephony interface boards from Sangoma to both the Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) and the radio station’s PBX. The platform also provides critical database management functions for caller black-lists, prize inventory, and caller history.

“Radio phone-ins are an extremely critical environment where everyone notices the smallest mistake or problem,” noted Martynas Spokas, project manager for FutureVoice On-Air with Infospalvos. “We chose to use Sangoma for the reliability and quality of its solutions. We knew that the integration process would be quick, easy, efficient, and most importantly, would provide a reliable foundation that would not disrupt the day-to-day activities of the on-air staff.”

Sangoma Technologies Corporation (TSX VENTURE:STC), a leading provider of hardware and software components that enable or enhance IP Communications Systems for both voice and data offers a wide range of analog and digital telephony interface boards that support signaling and coding standards from around the world. Supporting Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) as well as all common ISDN formats, the Sangoma boards made the VoIP implementation simple and efficient. The FutureVoice On-Air system supports both E1-PRI and BRI PSTN interfaces using Sangoma ISDN PRIA102DE and ISDN BRI A500DE boards.

“The whole system was been designed for live administration of all call control and database functions through a simple administration screen,” continued Spokas. “Through this technology, M-1 DJs can transfer a voice call into the studio and on the air through a simple single button push.”

A recent case study, “IP Solutions Let Phone-In DJs Focus on Talk, not Tech”, provides a detailed analysis of this implementation, and is available for download from Sangoma.
