During the webinar, we conducted a survey asking participants which communication tool was most used by their employees. Voice, via the deskphone and mobile phone, claimed two of the top three spots, together over 50% of the total responses, in fact. Chat/IM claimed second.
If I think about my office, this all makes sense. People around me (even millennials!) use the phone to contact those with whom they need to talk. But chat/IM is also used internally quite a bit when we just have a quick question.
Most businesses these days are using multiple forms of communication. Voice, obviously, is still critical. But, as the survey demonstrates, so are chat/IM, conferencing, and mobility. All of these modern communication requirements point to the need for a system that offers not just voice service but a full Unified Communications solution.
