Sangoma Technologies Ships Complete Product Line of Enhanced PCI Express Cards
PCI Express product line to support new PC designsTORONTO, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - Sept. 28, 2006) - Sangoma Technologies Corporation (TSX VENTURE:STC) (www.sangoma.com), a leading provider of connectivity hardware and software products for VoIP, TDM voice, WANs and Internet infrastructure, today announced it is now shipping its complete product line of enhanced PCI Express (PCIe) cards -- based on its popular Advanced Flexible Telecommunications (AFT) family of cards.
PCI Express is the new standard PCI computer bus that uses existing PCI programming concepts but bases it on a completely different and much faster serial physical-layer communications protocol. PCI Express is rapidly displacing standard PCI in high-end servers and workstations such as those used for telephony and routing projects.
Meeting growing global demand in the telephony space, Sangoma's Octal port A108, Quad port A104 and dual port A102 T1/E1 cards as well as its A200 analog voice system are now all available in PCI Express format to take advantage of the new bus architecture.
"There is a significant trend as the computer industry migrates towards PCI Express bus compatibility, especially at the high end," says Sangoma Technologies President and CEO David Mandelstam. "In particular the A108 card, which at 240 call capacity is the highest density PC voice card existing today, is well suited to support the new high performance PCIe servers used in large telephony applications.
"Moreover, PCI Express appears to be well on its way to becoming the new backplane standard in all PC motherboard designs," adds Mandelstam. "That's the reason we re-designed our complete product line, right down to our smallest analog system, to meet this growing PCIe requirement. And the beauty is that the change to PCIe is completely transparent to the user. All Sangoma's drivers, utilities and APIs continue to work exactly the same way for PCIe as for the older PCI standard busses."
Sangoma will continue to produce standard 3.3v/5v PCI versions of the A102, A104, A108 and A200 cards for the foreseeable future to support legacy PC server designs. In common with the PCI versions, the PCIe versions also support field upgradeable firmware to take advantage of hardware and software improvements as they become available. The PCIe versions also offer optional carrier-grade echo cancellation on all models.
