NEWS RELEASE TRANSMITTED BY CCNMatthews FOR: SANGOMA TECHNOLOGIES CORPORATION TSX VENTURE SYMBOL: STC JUNE 2, 2004 - 08:01 ET Arcom Selects Sangoma Technologies To Equip Hardened Edge Router TORONTO, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - Jun 2, 2004) - Sangoma's S5145 56K DDS and A101 T1/E1 cards enable easy integration and deployment of networking appliances to power and utility markets With over 20 years of engineering and technical expertise, Sangoma Technologies Corporation (TSXV: STC) (www.sangoma.com), a leading provider of connectivity hardware and software products for WANs and Internet infrastructure, has been selected by Arcom (www.arcom.com) of Kansas City and Cambridge UK to integrate Sangoma's S5145 56K DDS and new A101 T1/E1 cards into its series of environmentally hardened communications appliances. Arcom, a manufacturer of embedded operating systems, communications gateways and system designs for the power and utility industries, will deploy the Sangoma cards into its hardened edge routers running on the embedded Linux operating system. "Our devices are often used in very harsh environments with temperatures ranging from well below zero to just around boiling," says Arcom's PCP Sales and Product Manager Kurt Hochanadel. "As a result, we need robust components for our devices. In our trials with several leading North American power and utility organizations, we have had great success embedding Sangoma's cards into our product line due in large part to the superiority of their products as well as the quality of their drivers." Arcom's appliances are usually placed in remote areas where they have to go without on-site maintenance for long periods of time and endure extreme temperature changes. A typical application is remote meter monitoring for power utilities, an industry segment in which Arcom has found a market niche. The appliances including the Sangoma cards have successfully completed environmental testing in the laboratory and long-term field-testing with customers. "Arcom's channel agreement with one of the world's largest telecommunications outsourcing companies will help drive the market and create growth opportunities for our cards," adds Sangoma Technologies president and CEO David Mandelstam. "Arcom is clearly looking for robustness and simplicity. Our cards enable it to deploy a single ruggedized combination router and firewall solution, for maximum reliability in these demanding environments." Sangoma Technologies' current solution set includes: - High performance and reliable communications modules for OEM projects involving ATM, Frame Relay, X.25, SS7, HDLC, BiSync and other protocols - WANPIPE(R) internal IP routing solutions over T1, E1, ADSL and serial links - The WAN Edukit(TM) protocol teaching tool for educational institutions - POS (Point-of-Sale) interface cards for security and customer loyalty applications About Sangoma Technologies Corporation Founded in 1984, Sangoma develops and manufactures wide area network (WAN) communication hardware and software products, with an emphasis on the PC platform.
