Junior Technical Support Engineer
Job Description
Sangoma is looking for a Junior Technical Support Engineer who must be, first and foremost, a great cultural fit. The right candidate will be eager and quick to learn new technologies, will thrive in a fast-paced environment, and be willing to pick up the slack and help wherever it's needed.
As Sangoma is dedicated to producing and supporting the most reliable and cost-effective voice and data solutions on the market today, your duties will include 1st and 2nd Level Technical Support for our many communications solutions and routing products. These include software-based PBX and IVR voice systems, WANPIPE® internal routing solutions, API communications toolkits for OEM users and POS (Point-of-Sale) interface cards, just to name a few.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- 1st and 2nd Level Technical Support – VoIP (Asterisk®), WAN/IP Networking
- Quality Assurance Testing
- Linux/BSD Application scripting and maintenance
- WAN Protocol support and maintenance
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Eager and quick to learn new technologies
- A self-starter who is highly motivated
- An excellent oral communicator with a strong grasp of the English language
Required Software Skills:
- Programming languages: C, (C++ and Shell scripting an asset)
- Knowledge of Linux (install/setup/drivers an asset)
- Knowledge of routing and computer networks including IP/WAN networking
Additional Skills:
- Knowledge of networking protocol stacks: PPP, Frame Relay, CHDLC, ATM
- Socket programming skills
- Experience with VoIP and telephony systems
- Experience with Asterisk® Software based PBX
- Perl scripting
- Linux driver/kernel module development

- Undergraduate Degree or Diploma in IT
